Lincoln Dynamic Foundation Empowers Vegas Veterans with Gardening & Yoga
Dear PfP Community:
We are thrilled to launch Battle Buds - our gardening and yoga leadership community - in Las Vegas, Nevada in 2026 thanks to a very generous gift from the Lincoln Dynamic Foundation (LDF). Established in 2017, LDF seeks to support programs that focus on children and families, social inequalities, the environment and sustainability, and community enhancement.
LDF invested in Battle Buds following a successful launch of the program earlier this year in South Florida where 5 veterans and neighbors learned from former NFL player turned PfP Gardening Coach Lee Hightower III and post-9/11 veteran turned Yoga Coach Natosha Rector. Together, the Battle Buds rejuvenated, grew bonds, and produced food for people in need: families facing homelessness.
Battle Buds Nevada will feature 10 veteran and civilian friends growing food for people in need while rejuvenating through nature and yoga thanks to the support and generosity of LDF. Along the way, Battle Buds will learn lessons in sustainability and community empowerment while growing closer to each other, nature, and themselves through the healing power of gardening. This program allows us to realize our mission: to bridge the military-civilian divide by bringing military and civilian families together to heal the invisible wounds of war through our key pillars of Wellness, Connectedness, and Social Entrepreneurship. Lessons will include Introduction and Growing an Herb Garden, Vegetable Gardening Basics, and Social Entrepreneurship with Rejuvenation.
In Lee’s words, it is about “creating wellness-centered farms, gardens, and environments that promote health effortlessly and teaching individuals and organizations how to design their lives and spaces for lasting energy and resilience.” Join Lee and the group of veterans and civilians to connect and grow, together.
